Hello-

PLEASE Help...

So how can figure how many bugs to suppliment for grain...

for example, if Im feeding 20 lbs of grain daily and would like to cut that down to 10lbs with supplemental bugs (mealworms).

HOW CAN I FIGURE THIS CONVERSION?

Thank you all so much for supplying so many tools...

Alec

Diets are developed based upon dry mass of ingredients. Grain is generally around 10% water, insects are about 80-85, so for each pound of grain is about 0.9 pounds of dry grain, and each pound of insects is about .15 to .2 pounds of dry insects.

Speceider,
this I am aware of as a consumer of hay, and having gone the ropes with the sprouting or production of fodder versus dry hay
BUT
isnt there something to be said for things that contain life? Especially when looking at a dry grain versus a live bug?

thanks
