Marian led her to the mounting block, and eagerly stepped up, put her foot in the stirrup, swung her other leg over, and lowered herself into the saddle.

Dancer took off at a gallop before Marian had her right foot in the stirrup 

"Woah!" Marian called, pulling at the reins. "Slow down!"

Dancer slid into a walk pinning her ears in annoyance 

"Deal," Marian huffed, regaining her position quickly, shoving her foot into the stirrup. "Okay. Trot." Nudging the mare, she held the reins tightly.

(Peruvian's don't trot )
She slid smoothly into her next gait
