RIDGERUNNER, I have a question!

I take it that Widget's parents probably weren't Jersey Giants?

It seems that Widget must be one of those there "midget chickens"
I use to read about in a book...Chicken Little.

Spook

I'd say that's a safe bet.

The first pic I took of Widget was her standing next to a coke can (she's smaller). I am over the moon in love with this little girl. Now I want as serama rooster. I'm told the roos are full of 'tude. I have two roosters that are full of 'tude, but it's not very amusing. I think a 9 oz. roo with 'tude would be a riot.

With Seramas, even the 'tude is cute!

DD wanted Seramas. I bought her a pair. She had to try to hatch every egg they laid. We now have 21 Seramas, 10 of 'em roo's. Cute little buggers (though most are too big). Tamest chickens I have ever seen. While the roo's are absolutely full of themselves, not one has ever gotten horsey with one of us. I knew I had a problem on my hands when I walked into the living room one day, and found DD surrounded by her Seramas in assorted rabbit carriers, watching "The Natural History of the Chicken" on Netflix!

I am sooo glad DD didn't want Jersey Giants! I don't think you could fit 21 of them in my living room!

I have a Silver Sebright roo right about that size who needs a new home... and has a HUGE 'tude. How can I get George across the country to you???? I love him and it's breaking my heart I have to re-home him.

I'd love to give your rooster a home Linda, but even a sebright would be kinda big for a serama. I'm having rooster woes right now. Harley is now living with the brahmas, but he insists on picking fights and gets his butt kicked regularly. The Colonel is a butthead, but not human aggressive, so he keeps his head and lives with my mixed flock. The Colonel and Warf were both shipped to me from Mass. I lost Warf to a hawk.

I'm giving serious thought to breeding and selling seramas. I thought brahmas were the world's sweetest chickens until I met Widget.

The jury is still out on the 'chicken' part. I'm sticking with a very large parakeet. Be sure to supply a cuttle bone so that she can 'blunt' her beak.

I just fed Widget a small handful of mealworms. Took her about 10 bites to eat a single mealworm. After she finished eating them, she turned around and started typing on Keith's computer keyboard. Spoiled? Nahhhhh

She's a doll baby. I can't wait until she goes broody, I have some serama eggs lined up for her. I don't want her to be the only pipsqeauk on the farm (at least that's what I'm telling DH).

So, has anybody else noticed that everyone BUT Ridgerunner is responding to this thread? I do believe that Ridge is scared of teeny, tiny sparrows-in-chicken's-clothing.

I do believe you're right. Either that or he absolutely fell in love at first sight when he saw Widget's pic and is now out searching for his own itty bitty chickens.
