Hi folks! I've been wanting chickens ever since I moved to my current house two years ago, but I've been taking my time and getting my gardens ready first. A few weeks ago I entered a contest for a 2-4 chicken coop with wheels and a handle, and I won! The downside is that I want 3 or 4 chickens- and the dimensions for this coop are only 6 square feet interior space and about 8 square feet exterior. I live in a cold climate with snow on the ground for 4 months a year, so my chickens will need to spend some time inside. This really doesn't seem large enough for even two chickens. Is.it worth trying to salvage/ modify this coop? (I can add a larger exterior run easily.) Should I use it for rabbits and keep waiting for chickens? Or should I start small with two birds and see if I like being a chicken mom?
Thanks!
Thanks!
and good luck with your poultry adventure!
During the winter months, that's really nowhere close to large enough
. I would look at modifying it or find a new one and use this one for rabbits. But you should still get chickens! Their one of those things where you don't know how great they are until you got them.
