Rillowens first Hatch-Along! FOOD THEME

Pics
I was watching so when she clearly didnt have any intent to go back after 20 mins I put the eggs in the incubator.
For future reference 20 mins off the nest doesn't mean she wouldn't return. My first broody would get off the nest for an hour, sometimes longer. I kept thinking she wasn't going back, but she did. I'd say check in the evening if she's gone to roost with flock, then she's truly quit.

I don't know if she'll accept them again, but you could try if you wanted to.

Hello Food Eggies! Waffles, are you staying "toasty"?!

Oh I was worried she would want them back so I watched the rest of the day. She didnt even go back to look. Roosted like it was normal that night. 😮‍💨
I think she wasn't quite full broody yet. When she tried to bite my hand off and chased the other birds away, then stayed on an empty nest 5 hours after I took the eggs, I decided to give her a shot without the 2 nights on the nest requirement, I was hoping she could hatch close to the other in time.... but I learned my lesson not to rush a hen into broody. 😓 I have a vague hope she will still go full broody within the week and be able to finish those eggs... but its not looking promising.

I cant believe how many are doing well! I went into this fully expecting to only get half or less, since its my first hatch with an incubator that is notorious for being difficult!

Hopefully I'm not celebrating too soon, 8 days left!!
The row farthest on the left are the rescued from a quiting broody eggs. (There is green food coloring on some because I had a dye and hot sauce egg in the nest to discourage and identify egg eating... one broke it)

The eggs I rescued should be on day 4, but im not seeing any growth. Maybe she didnt set on them well even the time she had them.
