I need a first hand account from my fellow cheerleader, your darling son, about just how wonderful our little linguini is please.

2 More hatches! Now everyone but 24 and 21 have hatched. I candled them... its doesnt look good. I dont see movement, and I think i see a red ring on one, but the shadows look like fully developed chicks. I put that back for now, notnsure ifninshoild just call it. I guess I need to do an egtopsy to figure out what happened.

Well my son stood looking wonderingly at the brooder full of chicks and said very seriously and quietly "I would never have known eggs were so Amazing."
🥰 Aww. Precious. The grandma in me wants to give him a great big hug. 🥰

You could use a sterilized screw to make a small hole at the broad end of the egg near the aircell. Try not to go to deep, just enough to see if the chick is still moving/developing. If it smells bad or the contents are runny the chick probably died. Sometimes you can smell it through the shell but not always.

How funny, I did actually use a screw!
No bad smell, but no movement, I did the eggtopsy. They were both butt towards the airsack and head toward the point, so malpositioned? They also both had a significant yolks sack still, making me think they may have died this morning, but there was no real smell or decay so it couldn't have been long. Definitely dead though. 😢 well I ended my first hacth with an 86.9% hatch rate, not amazing but not terrible i suppose.

86.9% is definitely a great hatch rate! You did a fantastic job. Sometimes, it’s not anything you did/didn’t do, it’s just the way it works out. :hugs

What a lovely brooder full of chicks you have now! :love
