Hi, i know this isn't a chicken question, but I've never encountered this issue and i cant seem to find any answers about it. So i thought I'd ask you guy/gals. I have a Ring-neck pheasant that just started tilting its head the other day, and i don't mean like a confused puppy, i mean like RIDICULOUSLY tilting its head, to the point that it falls on its side and it looks as if its head is gonna twist off. the bird is about 4-6 weeks old and up till now has been doing great. its been in with a few baby turkeys and chickens. My sister said she had turkeys that did the same thing and she was told it was ear mites, so she treated them and problem solved. Does anyone know what this is or might be??? I haven't yet treated it and i have limited cash. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi just saw your post and don't want to see you slip through the cracks here. Has the bird been living outdoors? To have ear mites at only 4-6 weeks of age is unusual. Treating them for that however doesn't cost anything and you probably have the supplies on hand to do that. To me, it sounds neurological, or it could be a disease that is just beginning to manifest itself. I would isolate the bird so you can observe and so that in case it is contagious, it doesn't spread. If you notice any other symptoms, that would help a lot in trying to figure it out. For instance, how is the appetite - is it drinking - what does the poo look like - is it otherwise normal - are any of the others it is with adults? Any more info would help.
