So what are my chances of one of my 2 females siting on a nest? I have noticed them making little holes where I find the eggs in thecoop.. How do I best get them to want to sit? I really would like to have a natural mom rather then incubating everything@!!

If your hen has proper cover and concealment there is a chance she will brood your eggs. If she is out in the open with no privacy, there is little chance. If you leave her eggs where she lays and if she returns to the same spot to lay each egg that is a good indication. If you leave the eggs in the coop for her and she doesn't sit after about 5 or 6 days, there is little chance of them hatching either way. The sure shot would be the bator. Which ever you choose, Good Luck.

I have always helped with the motherly instinct on all my bird My pheasants included by giving them covered boxes and putting in lots of cover for concealment. They have chosen the covered boxes more than anything btw. Heck Im so obssessed about it I actually form a little nest in the hay to get em started. LOL! But believe it or not almost every time thats the spot they choose to put them. Also if they dont and a hen starts to lays eggs all over the place I pick the first few up put them in the nest and the rest are layed there. Maybe Im lucky but this has always worked for me and I had to do this on my first 2 elliot's eggs just last week. Now everyone is layed in that nest. Im incubating half and letting one of the hens set on her own. Hope this helps.

Ill try and post a pic of some nests tommorrow though.

This is the type of cover I give the pheasants twice as much though.

This is the one but the pen right now is buried in limbs and cover. Just one little strutting and eating area left.

Heres what they look likeeven though there is a duck in this one. They are old garbage recycle bins
