I've had my Chinese Ringneck and Red Golden pheasants (2 RG males, 5 RG females, 1 RN male, 3 RN females) together in a large aviary throughout the winter and they have got along very well. They just started laying eggs last week, I am new to pheasants and do not want any mixed offspring. I spend several hours a day observing them and have seen the males only 'courting' with their own species, but I know it's early in the season. Would those 2 species inter-breed? Forgive me if that's a stupid question -

Absolutely,I'm surprised the males haven't killed each other yet. They should be seperated in Jan,that's when they pair up for breeding.

Thanks Tony, I thought so, but I was surprised at how well they are getting along. I'll be making a nice new pen for them this week, and expanding my peafowl lot too. We're having great pen-building weather here in NC, it was in the 80's today.
