i have 4 ringnecks & 1 of them is bullying the others around, they are around 2 - 3 months old & i think the one doing the bullying is a rooster not for shure yet, can this lead to problems, or will it pass, what do i do? thanks for any input.

I am having the same problem with one or two really beating up on the others. I went and picked up a brooder yesterday from a gentleman and he gave me a bag of blinders and showed me how to put them on. I am just having a hard time bringing myself to put them on, are they cruel, do they hurt the animals when you pierce their nose with it? Any insight would be apperciated. Oh and can they breed with them on? I have one pen that has one male and four females. The other pens have young birds in one and adult males in the other. We are raising the birds for meat although they are very friendly to me when I go in the pen.

Thanks again.

I don't like using them either, but did have to resort to using one on a ringneck cock one time. They don't hurt them and he was able to breed fine with it.

Another option you could try is to clip his top beak. I have done this on some juveniles before when they were going through the pecking stage. By the time it grew back out they seemed to have settled down. I know this isn't always the case and if not then you have to keep clipping it every so often. Just clip the top beak where it is slightly shorter than the bottom.
I used toenail clippers for dogs and they worked pretty good.

How big is the area they are in? Sometimes more space will solve the problem.

and sometimes more space dosnt solve anything or is not possible

Clipping may help, i've done that with young ones that all of a sudden just turned on each other... They did grow out of it over time and stopped bullying. I have used the "snap on blinders ", the ones that don't need a tool, on a very aggressive male once. I don't care for blinders, but in this case it was needed. ( I suppose it's like people with nose piercings, except birds already have a hole... LOL.... but I'm a wuss anyhow) If neither work, you may have to separate them if you can and they are getting a beating. If possible put them in a cage/pen next to the others so they can still see each other, but not hurt each other until they settle down.... Best Wishes.
