Hi its my first year of this and im just curious on how long it takes for the hen to start laying eggs after being mated. And yes i personaly saw them breed. Thanks for the help

Hens don't need to be bred in order to lay eggs. It depends on the age, condition and habitat. Mine start laying late Feb/March but don't become fertile until mid April when breeding season really kicks in. Also depends on how comfortable they are with their surroundings. If a cock bird chases a hen too much, she may not lay for some time.
