My husband wants me to raise some pheasants for him and his hunting dogs. I have raised chickens for years now. My question is can male and female birds be kept together? How many should I start with?

I have a regular male and a melanistic female. Can/should they be bred together? Will the offspring just be a mix or will they be some regular and some melanistic?

Can they breed together? Yes. Should they? Up to you. The majority of pheasants already consists of a mixture of subspecies anyway.

Well yeah all birds,mammals,animals,humans,reptiles(well you can alter reptiles) have a 50/50 chance.

So i have a hen that got her head stuck in a fence. When I found her she was in shock and puffed up with air under the skin. I got her loose and separated her. She made it thru the night but hasn't moved. Do I puncture the skin and let the air out?

I wouldn't. I'm not sure what the air might be but I think it would just be better to wait and see what happens

Despite all I tried to save her, she died yesterday. I think she may have damaged her back as he wasn't able to use her legs.
