Well Randy, I found your thread on here so i guess you wouldn't have to answer the email I sent because I have seen the color variations you have but I am curious about this pheasant i pulled images of off the web? What is it???

Hi, I am getting ready to hatch out my first Ringnecks and had a few questions. How long will they need to stay under a light after hatching? I keep my silkies in the brooder for 8 weeks in the winter, no heat the last two weeks before they go outside. I have done a lot of reading, but haven't found an answer to that. Also, how do Ringnecks handle the winter weather? Will they go inside a coop voluntarily or do they prefer to sleep on a roost outside? Thanks

The images you posted are of wild ringnecks, which are different than the domestic ringnecks.

Raising baby pheasants isn't much different than raising chickens as far as brooding. Moving them out from brooders depends on outside temps, pen setup, weather conditions, etc.

hello im new to this and was wounding what is the diff from a reg ringneak and a melanistic im geting both if any one can help thanks

Tony or anyone who raises pheasants, what is the best way to solve them plucking the others back and tail feathers to baldness. I've read it's due to a protein deficiency or boredom, so I put on blinders and upped thier protein levels with no luck. Any tips? Also would you recommend separating all the males?
