Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
Did the necropsy on my Pea, today. Found her actual problem. She was internally laying, & her uterus/egg shell gland ruptured with a shell-less egg inside. She oozed with fluid, & smelled of rotten eggs.
