RIR - afraid I have a roo...

Not that I would know saddle feathers if I saw them, but from the drawing here, I don't see anything like that. She definitely does male postures, and even flew up on top of the coop, which none of the others do. I did check her feet though, and they're not bigger, which is a sign, isn't it??

I feel like such a dunce, but these are my first chicks so I am a total newbie to this way of life.

She definately looks like a pullet to me. In fact, she looks exactly like my RIR hens did at that age. Some hens have larger combs. Is she the top chicken? It may explain why she does some male postures.

My missexed rooster started crowing at about 8 weeks and grew curly cockel feathers early on. Also, he grew much faster, was much leaner and had much longer legs than our hen.

How did she feather out? If she feathered out fast back feathers first, it is a female.

If your chicken was a rooster, it would definately be crowing by now.
