RIR enlarged abdomen, lost appetite, & lethargic

Ya know, Willie, I bet you are right. When it rains here we have standing puddles of water, too. It never fails that I will get one or two that drink that crappy stuff and get sick. I treat them as if it is botulism, and it seems to work. I just hate that nasty standing water. We have worms and cocci just something awful in this soil, too.

I am so glad to hear that seem to be doing better. Best wishes to you!

Most often you won't see the worms in the poo. It is not unheard of, but mostly you won't.

That explains why I have never seen any. And I have spent too much time staring at bird poo. How do you treat for botulism?

I just checked back in and am so glad to hear your hens seem to be on their way. Mine is still bloated but able to get up on the roost now and not squatting all the time. Her backside looks a little better but is still very bloated and I have not been able to feel an egg of any kind in their. She is fighting with the other hens and very fiesty again (a princess indeed). I do have hope for her. She received a multiworm tab that included tapeworm, ringworm, hook and I also did four days on an antibiotic. I guess we are still in wait and see mode. She seems perky with wattles and comb red and eyes clear. We may never know for sure what she had.
