What age is he?
He looks around 10 weeks to me.

Our local tractor supply! The girl helping us said Friday was the day they got pullets only... the rest of the week was a gamble!

That makes no sense. They can’t sell all the chicks from the recent shipment in one day. So they would have sexed and unsexed. She had no idea what she was talking about, did she? TSC strikes again!

I’m not sure :-( our neighbors on one side are close! They don’t want the noise, but he is super sweet!

Thank you! We did get them as babies but were told they were sexed and we got them on “hen” day . The day of the week they only get sexed hens. What are the odds we get two boys! So crazy.

They probably sexed them as cockerls, you can hope there was a mix up, but highly unlikely that just seems to be the way things are with people. I will probably eventually sell chicks, as straight run, I know how sad it is to raise a pet with the mindset that it will stay with you for its whole life, only to give him away. Hope yours turns out to be a sweetheart.

I’m thinking she didn’t! But she did say they were selling out daily because of Covid, people scared of an egg shortage?? We got them in March!

I don't see tons of saddle feather development there yet, which is why I thought he was probably about 10 weeks.
I imagine he will get them pretty fast at that age now.
Hoping you can keep him- he is one handsome bird.

I feel like I'm one of the only new chicken people who planed on chicks this year, not because of COVID. I think based on all of my friends who got some, it was just easier than a puppy.

I have gotten all of my chicks from tractor supply. Fridays is usually when they have the leftovers from their tuesday shipments. They just put everyone in the same bin and sell as straight run. I think they lied to you.

Well, she wasn’t clueless about that. People are stress buying chicks. Little do many of them know it’ll be 5-6 months before they get eggs.

I had a friend who is thinking about getting chickens, who asked me how many eggs my 8 week olds are giving me lol.
