One of my RIR’s does not quite look like the others. I was hoping for assistance in determining if these particular pullets I bought are truly all pullets, or if this little gal is really a guy. Is this one a Rhode Island Red at all? Even as chicks Red here was always so much lighter in color than the other RIR’s, more like a golden color, and she’s always been the biggest of their flock.

If I need better or different pics, please let me know. I had taken pics of this one a little while back due to a neck injury, so the feathers are slowly coming in and a little rough looking.

Thanks in advance!!

Thank you all for confirming. I’d had my doubts s/he was a pullet, but this is all new to me. I’d also had some suspicions it was not a RIR.

My husband went a little crazy at Rural King when he found out they had chicks for $0.10, so I think he grabbed 10 of anything that laid brown eggs and took pictures of their placards. It wasn’t until he got home that he remembered we had nowhere to house 40 baby chicks and a duckling....:idunno

Cockerel for sure. Possibly a New Hampshire Red or one of the Production Reds. Coming from a hatchery will make it a bit harder to make a concrete identification.
