RIR ROO OR PULLET 4-5 weeks

I don't claim to be an expert at chicken sexing, but that chick's comb is barely visible, I have a hard time believing that's too large a comb for a 4-5 wk old pullet. My RIR roo chick is almost 6 wks old and his comb is quite red today, and it started turning dark pink 2 weeks ago. Here's a picture of him that I took earlier this afternoon.

The chick in your picture looks a lot more like a Red Sex-Linked pullet than a RIR roo in my opinion.

I got them in the assorted reds bin at tsc so i have no idea what they are, and i just got an order of 15 columbian cross pullets there so cute:D and the rir i showed in first picture is the fastest to develop head feathers as well

Seems to me that the comb is more yellow than pink -- I say pullet.

I'm trying to upload a picture of one of my 6 wk old Red Sex-Linked pullets to show you...but apparently I have to do a system restore on my computer again. I just love Windows 7!

Anyway, my RSL's looked exactly like yours at 4-5 wks. Tiny little yellow comb poking up. My RIR chicks are much darker. One is 7.5 wks old now and has a good sized comb, but it's just starting to turn pink. RIRe, the chick pic I already posted, had a comb much bigger and darker than your chick when he was 4 wks old. Plus he crawled inside a feeder pretending he was food...shaved his back off. I figured that stunt came following a "Hey ya'all, watch this!" moment on his part. Based on the behavior of all the male people in my family, I realized that day that RIRe was a boy.

I'll try to upload my RSL pic's later this evening, but try looking online to see if you can find some pictures of them.

I'm not an expert or anything, but that comb doesn't look red enough OR large enough to be sure it's a roo at this point.

(I'm hoping I'm right since my little "Miss Kitty" looks almost exactly the same at 5 weeks and "she" is supposed to be a chick...err girl.

My mystery red chick (RIR cross? GLW? I dunno) had a comb pop up pretty early like that too. I really thought she was a roo. Here's a pic of her about 4 weeks old:

She is now 8-9 weeks old and her comb is still yellow, and way less developed than the suspected cockerels. Here's a pic I took about 1 1/2 weeks ago:

So I changed her name from Basil to Paprika. I still don't know for sure but she isn't crowing like the other two that are about the same age.
