RIR rooster crossed with Red Sex Link

I picked up 6 Black Australorps almost two weeks ago in hopes of high egg production, i also have some RIR (production red) in my flock. I didn't know sex-links were such great producers. They are all way too young to be laying yet, but i have high hopes. Let us know what happens with yours!

Can you send me a picture ? And will the Marans and red sex link mix go broody?
I don't know about the mix. Cuckoo marans look a lot like a barred rock

I would expect them to as well as a typical Rhode Island Red considering that they will be 3/4 RIR. A red sexlink is usually half RIR, half White Leghorn. They probably won't lay as well as your red sexlink hens, but they will still be good producers. You just need to be careful about passing on a nasty attitude.
For a red sex link what would the rooster be? RIR or White Leghorn?
Thanks

I was mis-informed about the White Leghorn being used in Red sexlinks. White Leghorns are usually dominant white, it's not a sexlinked gene. It's the silver gene that is sexlinked, and it has to come from the hen. The red gene comes from the rooster. So in a red sexlink, the rooster is usually Rhode Island Red. The hen can be any silver based breed. Light Sussex, Delaware, Columbian or Silver Penciled Rock, Columbian Wyandotte, Light Brahma, and Dark Brahmas are just some examples of hens that would work.
