I have two RIR that I bought from Ideal. I bought "pullets" but Im REALLY starting to wonder..

Im thinking they look more like roosters, but Im no expert. Ive tried looking online for RIR hens and roos, but they pretty much look the same. The only difference I could tell is the tail feathers are higher on males. Next week they will be 5 months old if that helps.

That Im just parinoid and they're really hens.

**Side Note #1: In the right hand corner is my other RIR

**SN#2: When do EE, BO & RIR's normally start to lay eggs?

They usually start to lay eggs at 5 months.

That RIR up front looks rooish to me. The other could be a hen.

Yea sorry about that. I got a little ahead of myself and forgot the picture.

The RIR up front is the first one that started getting bigger wattles(sp?). Then the other is starting as well. I couldnt get a good picture of her/him. Kept turning its head.

I would imagine they would have started crowing by now. But some roos can be very docile. If the wattles are continuing to grow you may have a roo on your hands.

The first one(Rose/Henry) was docile at first. It was the only one that would let me hold it and carry it around. She/he would come to me(where the others all ran away) and let me pet 'em. Where the other one, I call it Tawonda(Fried Green Tomatoes) is kinda flighty. Just runs around all the time and wants to be ALL UP IN YOUR BUSINESS. But if you reach out to pet jsut runs away. About 2 1/2 weeks ago Rose/Henry started bowing up to me, what I call 'fluffy neck'. Wouldnt really chase or peck at me. But I also didnt stick around to wait for something to happen. I noramlly just left whenever it started up.

But no crowing yet. So I dont know.

Can you get a side pic of them? That tail from this position looks hennish to me and ready to lay any day now. The wattles can get big on hens too with RIR..not desirable, but it happens. The tail and saddle pic would really help.
