RIR Rooster?

Hey guys,

I just cracked some eggs for breakfast and saw this. (the little red line, right middleish) Is this a blood vessle. The rir mix chicken above is the only one who could be a rooster.

Thanks!

It's just a blood spot, common when a capillary bursts along the reproductive tract, not a sign of a rooster at all.

Please refer to this thread to see signs of a fertile egg: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/16008/how-to-tell-a-fertile-vs-infertile-egg-pictures

Agreed that this is just a blood spot. A fertilized egg has a different looking spot, like a light colored little donut. A buyer might be concerned about the blood spot (since commercial hatcheries and/or the USDA screen for blood and meat spots, among other things), but they are also perfectly safe to eat.
