Hello BYC!! I hope you’re all well! I am curious if anyone might know what to look for in an RIR chick for breeding, like a chick with really dark colors or a chick with long colourful wings, bright yellow legs, etc. I wish to separate my brood into layers & breeders to sell chicks.

these are my babies!

Thanks everyone!!
Nice job on the brooder!! Too early to tell. Need to have full set of feathers. Standards are in place inline for specific breeds for breeding purposes.

thanks!! My hubby surprised me with their ‘toy’ lol. They love it!

I’ve tried finding the standards but all I get is “everyone likes a red bird” lol

I recommend waiting then. Sorry. I have only had one RIR to compare. I am not much help.

It’s ok! I’m sure breeding is far from science 😂 but we have selected our birds based on their colorisations & a couple based on their current temperament, which I understand could do a 180 at any moment lol. I actually have taken a gamble on one of my Roos however, hoping mother nature follows my gut 😂
