RIR vs Production RIR

Anybody notice a difference between the 2 in rate of laying? Need a proficient layer of brown eggs....

IMO between the two, if you want an proficient egg layer, then obviously a production red would be better since thats what the emphasis in there breeding is for. But if you want the type, size, color and history, then true Heritage RIRs would be your choice. I myself would much prefer a Heritage RIR.

If you are going to get your birds from a hatchery I doubt you will find a difference between the two..
There size, color, body type and egg laying ability are going to be much the same between the Hatchery R.I. Reds and Production Reds..

Now if you are going to get your R.I. Reds from a breeder then you are trying to compare apples and oranges but the Production Red will lay more consistent than a R.I. Red...
