Hello,
I have been lurking and reading daily and finally got up the nerve to post and ask a question. I am so grateful to all of you for sharing all this information.
I have learned so much here, probably more than I should have....I was warned about the possible addiction, I should have taken the warning more seriously.
I'm Chris and I am a Chickaholic. There I said it.

I have a question about my RIR's, I am pretty sure at least one if not both are boys. Someone started crowing, can't catch him so I'm not really sure which one it is.
They are 3 months old. The combs and waddles are pretty close to the same size, Suspect 1 is a little rounder bodied than Suspect 2 and has shorter tail feathers.
Do the Roo's combs and waddles develop at the same rate as the hens and then just keep growing or do they develop faster than the hens?

Here the are together.

Suspect 1: Tail feathers not so long and fluffy a little rounder bodied than Suspect 2.

Suspect 2, pretty sure this is the boy.

Thank you for your help:)

Hi,
I have a production red, and her comb was not nearly that big at three months, and the feathers look pretty roo-ish to me. I'm new to this too, just wanted to give my comparison. Are you from Florida?

They both look like roosters. It looks like they have saddle feathers and pointy neck feathers growing in. They are beautiful!
