Sand is too fine for even chick grit.

I bought about a 2 gallon bag of granite grit from the local mill, they put it in their chicken scratch. Ran it thru a colander with 1/16" holes. Bagged the smaller stuff for the chicks and sprinkle some over a chunk of sod in the brooder during the second week.

Sadly, it's all I can get here as 'grit' for my flock. My flock has full access to my 1/2 acre of volcanic soil & and a pickup truck worth of sand that I have hauled in every couple of years. I find sand and small pebbles in their crops when I process them for the freezer.
There's so much that I love about living in a third-world nation, but the lack of shopping options is a pain. I and my feathered family make do with what we can get.

I bought some bags of the all purpose sand and mix it in with some all purpose gravel so let me know what you guys think of it
