Roaches and DE

I know DE helps a lot in keeping mites off the birds.......does it kill roaches? I hope to gosh it does!

I doubt it. Roaches have fairly hard bodies.

No. I had roaches in a storage room and experimented for four months and after massive amounts of DE none died.

Permethrin, on the other hand, wiped them out in 24 hours.

I've just been reading on BYC about Boric Acid as a natural pesiticide. I think I'll pick up some of that today.

I mix DE with corn meal or polenta and put it in old lids under everything (washer/dryer, fridge, desks, couch, etc). I did it once and saw no roaches for a year. I was seeing a few every night. I've put out a few lids of JUST DE and it made absolutely no difference. I've been wanting to mix it with cornmeal again to see if these giant roaches go away. I've also used it with fire ants but it takes more than one application.
