The hen was fine this morning and back to her loving self she even left me an egg in the crate I had put her in for isolation. I have returned her to the coop with the rest of the chickens. I want to Thank everyone for your wonderful advice.
I have some almost 4 month old chicks that seem to be just lobbing over. They seem alert and able to eat but it is really hot outside. any thoughts on that.
could they be too hot?
any chance of bringing them to a cooler, or shady, area?
what all do you feed?
make sure they have plenty of fresh water available at all times..extra waterers are a good idea.
they might need electrolytes..
usually available at feed store...
diluted Pediolyte in a pinch.
I fill 2 liter soft drink bottles with water and freeze, and set them in places where they tend to sit.
My Rhode Island Red was find yesterday, even layed an egg. She was out with the other chickens having a dust bath. My husband noticed she was sitting in the middle of the yard. He went over to her and she just sat there, she was alert but would not walk away. He pick her up and held her for awhile, put her down and she just sat there pecking at the ground and looking around. He put her in the nestbox last night. I checked on her awhile ago and she was alert flapping her wings but could not get out of the nest. What do I do?
