(Was the creature a fish or a crocodile?)
(Fish.)
Zara sipped water from the river, pleasuring in it's coolness. Downstream, Mercedes could be seen standing in the river, eating berries. Personally, she didn't see the appeal.
Distant shouts interrupted her moment of zen. It was, of course, Tate, barging through the forest, running into trees and things, apparently panicked because his mother was going for a little swim.
It was somewhat embarrassing to watch a male act in the way Tait did.
Zara kind of wished he hadn't come, but she couldn't peel her eyes away. It was touching he cared so much for his mother, but she hadn't seen the cause for alarm. That is, until Tait fell over and emerged with a sharply toothed creature gnawing on his head. He quickly got it off, but boy, that had to hurt! Zara really didn't like Tait, but she wasn't a monster. He needed help!

Zara trotted down the bank and then plunged into the river, now a bit anxious that a bitey creature would chomp at her ankles.
She ran through the river and bounded up the bank to examine Tait.
"Are you all right?" she asked. "When creature was chewing on your head it looked like it really hurt!"
Tait brushed his poor, poor mother off. Nothing should ever dare scratch her, say nothing about her being dragged down stream. Something splashed behind him. Oh no! The monster! It was coming back to get him! He spun around and-
"Um, yes?" Tait tilted his head. "I'm... I'm fine."
Zara? What was she doing here? He stepped back and grabbed his tail. She- she... was beautiful standing there with the sunlight sparkling up the water and refelecting stars in her eyes.
Ah! What was he thinking! A pure moment of exhaustion stealing his attention from caring for his precious Mother, how dare he! He looked down. His Mother's tail swayed at his feet with a small bite mark on the end of it.
"Mother! You're hurt!" Tait snatched her tail. Oh, it looked so, so bad! The same creature that got him must have gotten her as well!

Mercedes looked at him sideways. Why was he always bothering her? She took her tail back, gave Tait a look of disapproval, and turned back to eating the berries.

Zara examined the chewed up flesh on his head. If he was going to downplay his injuries, she wasn't going to be the one to stop him. "O-kay... If you say so..." she said. Good fortune! Perhaps Tait didn't need her assistance after all, and she didn't need to be in his awkward presence any longer! She wasn't really sure how she would doctor him up with her stubby little arms anyway.
She stomped back across the river. She had to find a way to sneak off to Arran. He was much cooler than this Tait fellow.

(Maybe Arran and Cragan could be hanging out?)

Arran yawned, letting a satisfying growl rumble in his throat as he blinked his eyes. He dropped down and rolled over onto his right side, allowing his limbs to splay out on the grass.

What are you doing?” His sister Isla criticized from nearby. The red tyrant was walking toward him with an irritated expression on her face.
“What?” He asked stupidly, grinning.
Isla rolled her eyes. “Acting. Like. A. Hatchling.” She growled. “Get UP.”
Arran closed his eyes and let his head fall back on the grass. “But it’s warm. What do you want me to get up for anyway?”
Isla gritted her teeth. She had no real reason, but Arran knew she’d never admit that in a million years.

She paused for a moment. “Do you want me to volunteer us to patrol?” She snapped.
The brown tyrant reluctantly rolled onto his belly with a sigh. Being on patrol meant a long day or two of traveling to check the borders and make sure no intruders or dangers were on the territory.
Arran didn’t have a problem with it, no of course not, it was just so.. boring. Nothing interesting ever happened.

“You’re no fuuuun..” he moaned; teasing.
Isla took a step nearer and nipped his back, causing him to flinch away instinctively. Using his head to leverage himself upward, he took a sidestep to balance himself and bar his teeth in a toothy grin—encouraging a fight.
“You wanna go?” He asked, shifting his weight eagerly and lowering his head.

"I'm actually feeling pretty hungry right now," Cragan offered. "Maybe we should go hunt for something?" He needed to bulk. He was looking pretty scrawny. He knew it wouldn't add inches to his height but maybe some muscle would help him beat Arran in a fight.

(Aww, I love evangeline with her little hearts. And Maelstrom looks appropriately terrifying.)

Arran lifted his head, dissuading the fight, and turned to the younger tyrant.
“Sure thing bud.” He said. “I’m sure we could catch something between the three of us.”

“Did we already finish off the tri-horn?” Isla questioned.
The thunder typically sent their best hunters to catch a piece of large-prey from one of the big herds so the elders and hatchlings could be fed. It had been a while since they’d checked on the status of the body, which usually lasted them several days.

"Yeah, I just checked," Cragan said.

"Yeah, I just checked," Cragan said.
“The king will be organizing another hunt soon then,” Isla commented, looking back to where the majority of the thunder was congregated. “I’d rather be here for that.”
“You don’t even know if you’re gonna be picked for the hunt,” Arran pointed out.

Isla drew back her head proudly, frowning at her brother. “I’ve been picked twice. Who’s to say he won’t pick me again?”
Arran shrugged, unwilling to put up a verbal fight with his sharp-tongued sister.
“Aren’t you excited to go on your first hunt?” The brown tyrant asked, nudging Cragan with his hip in good nature. “You just gotta put on a little more weight, prove yourself in a fight or two, and you’re set.” He grinned.
