Robin nesting

I watched almost 2 weeks ago as the Robins built the nest in 2 days. 3 eggs in the nest a day later. Up until yesterday morning there was always a Robin sitting on the eggs. I have not seen the parent(s) since yesterday. Does this mean the eggs were bad or could it mean something has happened to them? Eggs not hatched and according to what I have read they should have been hatching this coming week. Is it normal for the parent(s) to be gone for 24 hours or more when the eggs have not hatched yet?

Sometimes birds will abandon the nest if they feel it is no longer safe to be there.

Thank you. We were looking forward to watching it from our dining room window but I guess it's not meant to be. Still no sign of the parents.

Wonder why they abandoned the nest? Hopefully, you will get lucky to see some hatch at another time.
