i looked at the people online and it said there were robots are online how does that work?

The way I understand it, the search engines (Google, Bing) send out robots to help people find answers to their queries. The owner of the site considers robots a good thing, since that means they are bringing more people to view the forum. Right @Nifty-Chicken

Yup, exactly! Most "robots" (sometimes called search engine spiders, because they crawl the web) are good, and help people find BYC. Sometimes they are bad (scraping content from the site)... but we try to block those kind.

The robots often identify themselves as such, and our software looks for those identifying features.
