Love rocks and minerals. I have done some rockhounding here in Maine and facet stones. My mom joked the other day that she still has some my rock collection at home. (left home 38 years ago).
I am not a pro at this but I adore rocks! and here where I live there are so many beautiful ones! You can find anything here ..fossils, geodes, agates, types of jade...just cool rocks that speak loudly to you ...
one of my most wonderful adventures in the Pacific NW is being able to sit on one beach sifting through gravel and finding agates... then hiking in the mountains and finding the same agates where they originated
just mindblowing to me
I am in southern california and there is plethora of rocks to be found here. The Gem & Mineral club owns the land out there where they hold this show, and quite a bit of it is from right there. I have been told I must have rocks in my head since they are coming out my ears.
Anyone collect flourescent minerals? I'll collect whatever I can get my hands on, but I particularly like flourescent ones. You have to use a black light to see them. I worked at the Sterling Hill Mine & Museum years ago (if you know fl minerals you know Sterling, it's like Mecca for collectors LOL) and started a small collection then.
I can post a link if anyone is unfamiliar.
When we went to TN for vacation I brought my light with me into the caves. Found quite a bits of flourescence that even the staff was unaware of. Fun stuff.
