Hello expert chicken masters,

My good friend sent me these pics this am.

A rock hard calcium like egg was found stuck to the rear of her chicken. She soaked her awhile and removed it from her feathers. She has passed it on her own but owner is wondering what to do now if anything.

What is this and what should be done now?

She seems to be eating and drinking now just fine.

Nothing much you can do. Excess calcium usually makes these protrusions/deposits on the outside of the shell, but that one is extreme. Not much you can do that I know of. Calcium and Vit D work together and maybe there's some sort of imbalance between the two, but I don't know. It's good that it's outside her and not inside her!

I agree, not much that can be done.

Did you happen to break the egg apart to see what the inside looked like?
