I have heard people say they put some smooth stones or rocks in the bottom of their incubator to help with humidity and keeping heat. I would like to hear from people with LGs if that works for them? Or what else do you do to help maintain temp and humidity better? Anyone ever thought of using parchment paper somehow? I know for baking it helps with even heat, could it somehow be used for the incubator?

The absolute most important thing with an lg is a room with little traffic, no drafts and a constant steady temp. I have mine between the lvg and dining rooms...a hallway of sorts..the room temp is 65 degrees and both bators are running at 99.5 degrees...give or take a degree...keep in mind temp spikes occur when there are changes occuring in the shell..such as it turning from liquid to a solid mass of feather and bone..it will regulate again.

The best thing to do is get a reliable thermometer and hygrometer to measure humidity...reptile ones for terrariums work great and are pretty much dead on. I've no problems with these....calibrate both and then trust only those...don't drive urself crazy with a bunch of thermometers!

Run the bator with the heat cranked as high as it will go for a day...then slowly turn it down...works for me and I've got 2 lg's with a brand new one in a box!
