Chickens usually lay an egg per day and sometimes 2 a day. At once a chicken lays one egg.

Hens typically lay an egg every 26 hours, but some don't because of factors such as light, calcium, etc.

My hens are laying 10 a day! Which is more than in the summer. I think it's the heat lamps. What do you all think?

That's really good for this time of year, how many hens do you have? Yeah I think it might be the heat lamps, it gives more hours of " day light" that's necessary for continual egg production

Oh that's a nice hen-egg ratio, especially in winter. Yeah I know how you feel, my whole layer flock ( and a silkie hen from my silkie sub-flock) eat eggs, I've been trying to break em of the nasty habit but with no avail, silly chickens

I've tried the fake eggs (ceramic eggs) the chickens peck them and can't brake them and so I guess it bores them. It did work great for a while but than they where mistook for real eggs and they winded up trying to be cracked open. Maybe they could help your hens egg eating, they worked for me I just gotta find them all. :gig

Yeah I'm trying that right now, I have one ceramic egg in to break that one silkie hen, which is sorta working, and I've been trying that on the main flock but they aren't falling for it. They are either dumb or really smart :gig
