Rocky64's chat thread: anything is welcome

Thanks! He had a brother but it got in with the big chickens at two days old and umm the big ones are it I think, those cannibals :/ yeah I really like the name, fits him well

Aww sorry about his brother... Cannibalism in chickens can be so harsh.

How old is sky? He's very pretty.

It's alright, yeah it sure is. Sky is about 5-6 months old. And responding to your earlier question, yes sky is my profile picture. Thanks, I'm surprised he turned out so well considering his mom isn't very good in terms of show quality.

What kind of comb do silkies have? I may get some silkies this spring.

I don't know if I have already asked this before but how well do silkies do in cold winters and warmer summers? Winters are on average about 20 degrees here.

I think you have but there's nothing wrong with a refresher, silkies do fine in cold weather and warmer weather, last years winter where it got -30 the silkies were fine, but I had three together and that probably helped with warming themselves, just make sure they get lots of water during winter. They do well in summers here, average is bout 80 but jumps to high 90 sometimes, but black ones are more prone to heat than my white ones.

oh that makes sence. I will probably get black silkies so they can keep warm better here in the winter.
