Just an update- 14 of 17 eggs hatched. I did follow advice from chickintexas and removed the chicks to the brooder, after they dried off.

I am not a newby to incubating and I have hatched out somewhere in the multiple hundreds of chicks using the styrofoam box things that our friend Al refers to.....even supposedly hard to incubate Serama chicks.....in fact I hatched out two dozen this past week. I have 3 styrofoam box thingys doing their job right now. I remove my chicks as soon as they hatch to a warm and waiting brooder, too. I usually add some hot water to the sponge to keep the humidity up....but we all learn the ins and outs of how OUR incubators work best. It's just trial and error.
