Roman Tufted Goslings

Frosty,
I still haven't gotten pictures transferred to my computer so I can post them, but my DD and I spent some time looking at the pictures od geese on Holderread's site and decided that that we have 2 buff Africans, 2 embdens, 1 fat Tolouse, 1 cute tuffted Roman, one Lavender American and 1 NYG (Nameless Yellow Gander). We don't know what he is, but he's a cute little guy.

I have been giving some thought to why I got a variety and you got all one breed. I don't know if you asked for it that way, but what I'm thinking is that since they are ordered as show quality David Holderred sent you all one kind to be sure you would get some that were indeed show quality. Did that make sense? His site said not all ofspring of SQ birds would themselves be SQ. Maybe I'm totally off base, but it sounds plausible.

Enjoy them while you can, In about a week they will double in size and will look unfinished right up to the time that they have their first suit of feathers, funny but not cute.

No kidding!! The Welsh Harlequin ducks that came with them last week are the size the goslings were and the goslings are more than twice the size they were. You can almost see them grow. They are like boats with legs. I must admit that I was really hoping for mostly Americans, but we are becoming rather attached to our motly crew.

Frosty, how is it that you ended up with only 5. I thought the minimum to ship geese was 6. Maybe I'm wrong, but I sure hope you didn't lose one on the way?

I was able to get a minimum of 4 birds but decided to go for 5 since it was just a little more money. I think it's possible I needed fewer since I live close and they were able to get them out to me within 13 hours of leaving the facility through usps? I requested the breeds all be the same if it was possible so I'm sure that is how I ended up with the Roman Tufted. I'm actually very happy I got them now. They are just so calm and sweet and I live near people so I won't have to worry about neighbors complaining to me as much. X fingers! I would sure love some of those buff Africans you got though. I have never had large breed geese and would like to see how they differ. Sounds like you got a fun assortment. I would love to see pics once you can get them up. I bet the little Toulouse is a cutie.
