I have a Bantam Mille Fleur Roo, Romeo, that began hoping on one leg to get around. He did this for about a week. Now, he won't/can't walk at all. He can't even lay with both legs underneath him and is unbalanced. I could not find any breaks. There is no swelling. Of course, chickens don't express pain like other animals. Whenever I would palpate the leg, or flex and extend it, it would be limp, unlike the other that he would give resistance. Is it possible for his leg to be out of socket, and what do I do short of taking him to a poultry vet? I will take him as a last alternative. Should I give him a little longer to heal? He is eating and drinking just fine. I brought him inside the house just so he isn't getting trampled by the rest of the flock or not alone in the infirmary (he isn't contagious). He is such a sweet and docile boy. Please don't be cruel and tell me to eat him. I wouldn't find that funny in the slightest.
