"Ron" is honking. Will "he" be "Ronnetta"?

The ducklings are only two weeks old. I thought it was Hermione making the honking/wheezing noise, but I listened closely tonight and it's Ron. He (she?) is doing it more and more often, and peeping less often. Someone said their drake makes honking noises--but at two weeks of age? Is this a sign that "he" is a "she"? I actually hope so. More girls is more goodness.

The girls honk and the drakes sound like they have a sore throat/hoarse and whisper. Pardon the term but the girls when they start sound like a little fart. hahahaha

Thanks guys.

That's what I thought, Cetawin, so I appreciate your confirming. I just thought I had read someone's post that they had a male who honked. But I'm glad to get confirmation!

So, one girl & one ??. That's good enough for now (it's only been two weeks after all). I'll get at least a 50/50 split and maybe better than that.

Dances with Ducks--I forgot to mention that I love your name idea. I ran it by my 5-year-old though, and he voted it down quite firmly. lol He wants "her" to still be Ron, but I think we may have compromised on "Ronnie" which is somewhat gender neutral (sort of). At any rate, I heard him calling her "Ronnie" and then kind of laughing, so I guess it's a go. You know you're in trouble when your kids get to name ALL your animals. Well, I guess turn-around's fair play--after all, I got to name the kids, so they get to name the pets.

Kids naming pets, hah! We had three goldfish and a cat named Jason.

I now have a female duck named Choopiter....

He did better with our newest addition. Her name is Jenga.

I've been pretty impressed with the naming they come up with, although they each went through a stage where they wanted to give the same name to everything. This was really frustrating for my oldest when he wanted to name things and his little brother kept naming his the same thing. LOL!

Right now, we have a dog named Princess Honey Beatrice (we call her Honeybee); goats named Quincy and Avery (they came with those names, and after considerable discussion, the kids decided to keep them); geese named Gabriella (named by a young girl who was visiting) & Little; and ducks named Harold, Greenbill, and Lily; and ducklings named Ron (Ronnie) and Hermione (and we had a third named Harry who died). You can tell what they are reading! lol

Past names: Babywool (a toy lamb & a duck were both named this), Cutie, Baby Pippin (my now 5-year-old went through a stage where everything was "Baby Something"), and Blanche (from my then-six-year-old).

We do not name the bees. That would be a full-time job!
