So i saw the roo breeding the pullets today. Does this mean that eggs will come along soon? They have red wattles and combs. I think that they are a red sex link of some sort and are about 15 or 16 weeks old. Got them the first week of jan. They are further developed than the slw and blk aus that are the same age.

Cockerels will breed the pullets long before the pullets are ready to lay eggs. It sounds like your cockerels are ready! lol... Seems like average age in my backyard for pullets to lay eggs is 6 months old.

Red combs, developed enough to mate, four months for a sex-link---sounds like you should have eggs in the next few weeks.

I've had sex links before but I don't remember them developing so much faster than my other dp birds. My current chicks are about 9 weeks old and the sex link is quite larger with more developed comb, etc. She looks like she's a good three weeks older than the others--barred rock, wyandottes and welsummers.

Ive had my 2 hens for 2 weeks and I just got my first egg today! Shes a sex link and the roo has been at her ever since I got her, so just be ready when you find her in the nest box

First egg today. I knew the pullet eggs would be small but it is the size of a bantam egg. Didnt thinke it would be that small.
