Roo chicks: Is it possible to just know??

I hatched 6 chickies a week ago today. Can you sometimes "just tell" that they are cockerels? I'm almost sure that 4 out of the 6 are roos. They are bigger and a little more "bossy" looking! I am new at this!

Yup sure is. I think it is just like when you see a persons shadow you can tell male or female (females have a lower center of gravity) the boys just seem to stand taller and be more dominate.

I have 7 that were born Dec 26 and 27 . I would almost swear that 4 out of 7 are roo's !!!!

I CAN'T HAVE ROO"S !

Nor do I have a place to butcher them without all that smell from synging them. Otherwise I would have some nice dinners in a few weeks !

I can't have roos either. Nor can most of the people that live around me! It will make it difficult to re-home them, I suppose!

I knew it was a risk.

I have a nice lady who wants all of them (she knows they are un-sexed). Of course I don't know FOR SURE that they are roos. Can I in good concience play dumb and let her take them all?? I'm wrestling with that. I'd hate to have her stuck with 4 roos, but she knows it's a risk.

Well I can't SAY for sure but we got a couple that sure fit the profile. We got 6 bantam cochins (blue and black mottled) that we're hatched last Wednesday and Thursday morning respectively. They are growing fast right before our eyes. Now that they are a little stronger and adjusted to their new digs there are a couple that seem to stand up TALLER and are a teenie bit bigger... They are sooo cute. YOU TELL ME... (LOL)

Yep. My first hatch I only hatched 2 and as I watched them I said the first few days that one looks like a roo and that one a hen. Sure enough 1 roo, 1 hen. However I've then had hatches where I worried they were all roos to have them turn out all hens except 1. You can't know for certain.

The roos I've had are actually the smaller chicks on average. The hens tend to be a bit bigger and rounder and the roos lighter and thinner.

I received some OEGB chicks 6 weeks ago I was able at two weeks to pick the males from the females. I hatched 6 pumpkin husley last week 2 were black and yellow and 4 were yellow, the 2 were bigger also. Though I don't think they have genes for feather sexing the 2 had even primaries/coverts and the 4 uneven. I should know by next week.
