My roo damaged his wing while in the coop. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help him. I thought maybe I could trim his flight feathers to relieve some weight but I'm not sure if it would help. Any suggestions?

I know there is a difference between a drooping wing vs. A broken wing but through just pictures it would be hard to say. Either way, here's a good article from a similar thread I found on here:

I hope he recovers quickly:hugs:fl Maybe add some nutridrench to help with healing!

ETA- How's his overall behavior? Eating, drinking, disposition?

He seems to be acting normal. I examined his wing and the tip joint (not sure of proper name) is very swollen/hard and the wing doesn't stretch out normally.

Well, that's good that he's behaving normally! I'd go ahead and sling/splint it,I think. There are instructions in the article I posted above but I'll tag the chicken gurus, too!

@Wyorp Rock @aart @Eggcessive , any ideas?

Eta- I found this, too. Looks like you want to fold into its natural position and wrap it snugly to his body. I'd think coban would be best for this. Leave it wrapped for two weeks, I'm not sure if you change the wrapping but I'd try to avoid it lest he flap and undo any healing?

I think that he has a really good chance! I'd just check it a couple of times once it's wrapped to make sure it's not too tight; cutting off circulation certainly won't help healing! And I'd personally add a vitamin support product while he's recovering; I've heard really good things about nutridrench!

Good luck and keep us posted! :hugs
