My vet send the birds there for the lab tests and it is NOT cheap!

It will cost around $350 dollars per birds, shipping and all. From what I heard, been to U of I, its the best in the state for testing birds.

I had a Blue Orp roo that was about four years old and he died suddenly and the hens he was with had no illness so I wrote if off as heart attack. I had him for about six months and it was from Gordie. So I missed that big hunky blue!

Chickens at any age can get heart attacks or weak hearts. Its called sudden death. Even the Cornish X;s can flip over and die suddenly at two days old.

It is up to you if you want to have him tested. If you got the money and time, you can get it done by your own vet which they can tell you that they can send it in or not. They should be able to tell if you need to freeze the body otherwise it would decompose fast and give the tests a false reading.
