Roo has crossed beak

My Roo Ralphie has a crossed beak. I've tried cutting it but it bleeds soooo much. So I picked up some styptic to stop the bleeding but it really doesn't work as fast and as well as it says it does.

I really like this guy and he likes me, it's crazy! I didn't even want a Roo he was a surprise!

Would a vet that deals with birds be able to cut his beak shorter and stop the bleeding better or is my silly Roo destined for a death sentence? It's getting harder for him to eat and I'm not going to let him starve to death.

Is there a better solution out there?

Try pressure for 5 min with the styptic powder- it works much better with pressure. Also you might look for silver nitrate sticks- chemical cautery. A dremel tool works well for trimming beaks, more control than a cutting tool. To keep a scissor beak in check, you will need to trim every 1-2 weeks forever. Mostly just the top, but if the bottom is overgrowing, you will need to do both.
A vet could do it shorter and with sedation and pain control. Maybe do a debeak on the upper beak, but I am not sure on that. I haven't seen that done on an adult bird for scissor beak--- actually you didn't say how old Ralphie was...

Ralpie is a six month old Buff Orpington. When he was a chick he looked normal, but as he's matured his beak has become worse.

A dremel, I quess I'll try that next.
