I have a trio of Speckled Sussex chicks and at around 3 weeks I’ve noticed one of the 3 is showing a much larger and pinker comb (#2). They are the most confident of the bunch and biggest by a fair margin.

I know it’s VERY early to tell, but I just wanted some fun guesses as to the gender of this sweet little thing. Keeping it either way.:) Added one of the other SS (#1) for comparison in their developmental stages.

Yeah, I was thinking cockerel, too. Definitely going to keep updating as they grow. They were supposed to be a pullet like the other two, since it came from a sexed batch, but there's always that chance of a sneaky male! :)

Week 4-5 update, pretty confident little Frankie (Francis/Frank) is a boy. Just look at that comb! I’ll be continuing to update as he(?) continues to grow.

This is a surprising first for me- I’ve always ended up with roosters over the age of 1 years, never hand raised any myself.
