As per my new member introduction. I purchased two Black Sex Link from TSC. I believe the barred one is a Roo. Of the six birds, it has the largest and reddest comb. It also seems to be highest on the pecking order. Two others were labeled brown pullets and two were labeled red pullets. I haven't been able to tell them apart from the moment I brought them home. Not sure on the breeds. Thanks for any replies. http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h456/RonnieG520/chicken002.jpg

If you have a BSL and it is barred, then it is Male. Females are not barred. That's why they're called sex-links. Because they can be sexed at the moment of hatch.

That is what I thought. I am glad though. At first I thought I only wanted hens. Then I read about how roos will protect their hens. I don't live in a town or city so not worried about that.I was regretting not buying straight runs. Funny how things work out. Thanks.
