Roo laying eggs??

I had a couple hens I thought were roos til they laid an egg. Could be they never had a roo to begin with. In a flock of just hens a hen may begin to crow and take over the role of a rooster. Now a female taking over the role of a male? That I can believe. But a male taking over the role of a female? Having babies, laying eggs? I don't think so. That is definitley a story for Disney cuz it's a fairy tale.

I honestly think it was just either A) one of those chickens who have a "hidden" gender, there was an article on that or B) just plain a hen who decided to crow and stop laying eggs until now, (there are plenty cases of that) plus there are plenty hens with that size of comb and wattles. . .

Roosters don't just turn into hens.

It is either a psychological thing or a genetic thing.

I've read stories where people have only hens, and no roo.. one of the hens becomes dominant, and sometimes even crows. Possibly that could've happened? Chickens aren't like fish where they're internal workings can just change, or can it?? I'm willing to suspect it was just a case of mistaken identity in the first place!
