Roo or Hen? About 25 weeks old and no crowing...

are u sure he was 3-4 weeks old in that pic because my EE is fully feathered and is only 3 and half weeks old

I've been told the 3 rows on the comb are no guarantee, and its legs are not very thick, but the saddle feathers tell all. Roo.

By that age, even the girls will have three rows of "peas" on their combs, but they dont get their full size comb till they are close to laying age, whereas the males get theirs very early on, and they are never this huge on pullets.

The hackles are screaming roo.

With this breed, you may have a hard time going by hackles since they do appear pointed in both sexes. The real difference, besides the comb, at the saddle feathers hanging off the sides in front of the tail.

Well it looks like you guys are right.

A few days ago at about 5:30am when there's enough daylight to make it visible in the shed we have been hearing crowing and assumed it was one of our younger Polish.

Well about a week ago when we were partially convinced that the EE (we named it Balto...long story) we brought it inside and played some youtube clips of Roos crowing.

Well this morning I heard a crow and decided to go and stand in the coop, wait for another crow to see who it was. Turns out is was Balto all this time.

I'm guessing he just never figured crowing out all this time??? He seems to ONLY crow in the early morning which is good for us that he's quiet...maybe our neighbors won't complain since roosters are technically not allowed in my town.

I got one that looks amost exactly like him and I think he is about one of the neatest roosters that I have. You should enjoy him.
