Roo or Hen? - it's driving me nuts! And is this even a Barred Rock?

I bought these are straight run day old Barred Rocks -- they are now about two weeks old and I am going nuts trying to figure out if they are Roo's or not. We can't have Roo's in town so if they are I need to re-home them right away. I keep trying to go by color of the legs or feathers -- but am getting mixed results from what I read.

Also -- the more I look at pics the more I am wondering if these are a black sex link and not actually Barred Rocks.

Any help would be great!

They both look like roosters to me! They might be Barred Rocks or possibly mixes! Though I am not sure!

I was thinking Roo's as well, we have four other chicks that we bought as pullets and eventhough they are different breeds -- the ones above have much bigger combs.

why do you say rooster, they don't strike me as pullet necessarily but I was wondering why you think rooster, in my experience it's very hard to tell this early

i say roos barred rocks are very easy to tell apart by combs

I usually can tell the gender of a chick when they are a day old! I am usually 90% right! Its hard for me to explain to a person how I am able to tell the gender of a chick. I am not a professional though! I do not do vent sexing or feather sexing...

Mainly because the combs look so much different then the other chicks we have - much bigger - but they are different breeds.

Well I rescued a Barred Rock Chick at about 2-3 weeks old, everyone told me that it was a Roo, but now at 6 weeks there is no change in the comb, it was literally huge at 2-3 weeks, and its like she/he grew into it, and its still yellow, so I'm hoping she really is a hen. I did get another Barred Rock from a lady that hatched them for a preschool, as for the coloring, I thought it was a black sex link too, because she/he was solid black with the white dot on the head till this week, 3 weeks now, and the white barring is starting to come in. But my chick's legs look much smaller then yours and the comb is much smaller as well. But I'm brand new, first time with chicks, so I really don't know. But there might be hope that they grow into it.
